He continues to BEG for "my cold water" but the doctors haven't gave the okay yet for him to get anything. They are claiming that his stomach still isn't making any sounds. But from past experience with him, Andrew and I say, "you won't get any response if you don't help facilitate his stomach TO make sounds." At which hour of recovery do you say, "enough!" ?? It's hard to continue following the lead of the nursing staff when you are clearly watching your child suffer.
They increased his supplemental oxygen to 1.5 liters, because at times of fussiness he drops his saturation too much. They're trying to keep his saturation above 90. But for the most part he's sticking steady at about 94.
The last blood gas they took at midnight showed he was a little low on calcium, so they gave him some to help increase it. Next blood gas will be taken at 4am.
As of now, his lungs are sounding 'okay' clear. With every crying/coughing episode, he clears more out, so starting breathing treatments hasn't happened yet... but he needs to do it more often now.
Blood pressure has been hanging out about 117/60.
His urine output had slowed just a bit, so they gave him a dose of Lasix (diuretic) to help out, which it's doing its job... Seeing nice results now.
Blake drains are finally slowing too, discharge from the Blakes is starting to change over nicely.
Other than this, I can't think of anything else to report at the time.
Love, Kathleen
