How to Easily Create Nursery Letters: A Name for the Wall

One of the most popular things to do for a nursery is to have the name displayed somewhere in a fashion that is creative and matches the theme of the room. I wanted to share with you my quick and easy instructions for doing this without having to pay an arm and a leg to have them made.

Colton's nursery (still under construction) is Arkansas Razorbacks themed with an emphasis on baseball, football, and basketball, all of which we attend on a regular basis to support the Hogs! Well, we did go to games quite often, but this coming football season will be pretty crazy after Colton decides to grace us with his presence.

Hobby Lobby and Joanne both carry unpainted, large block style letters that are made of paper mache or cardboard, and on a good day, you can get a great deal on them! USE YOUR COUPONS! While you are there, grab scrapbook paper that coordinates with the nursery, as well as some acrylic paint in a matching color. If you don't have Mod Podge or a thin, cute, matching ribbon at home, grab some of that, too.

First, you will want to paint the front and sides of the letters with acrylic paint and allow to dry. Depending on the color, a second coat may be needed. The backs of the letters will be against the wall, so unless it really bothers your conscious, you can leave as is.
After the paint dries, trace the letters onto the scrapbook paper and cut them out. Cover the fronts of the letters with Mod Podge and immediately place your scrapbook letter onto the painted letter. Using hot glue, attach ribbon to the top of the letter, forming a loop to hang it by. Repeat until letters are done, stick a nail in the wall, and hang to your heart's desire!
