I'm playing along with Elizabeth at Boy Crazy [finding clarity in the chaos] and her second round of Snippets. She gives us a snippet of a story, and those up to the challenge run with the words, the inspiration. Head over her way to read what it's all about, and to find out how to play along!
The Snippet this week:

And when she finally spoke, her words dropped like pebbles in a tin pail.

When she spoke, her words dropped like pebbles into a tin pail. She felt them roll off her tongue, one after the other in an avalanche that raced passed her lips. They echoed as they bounced off the round sides of the pail, spiraling near the bottom, clinking against the metal. She had to say the words, spoken to no one and everyone.

She breathed deeper, unencumbered as her breath softened, her exhales meaningful. She took stock of the full pale, the weight of her words. Heaviness as she lifted her arms, the bucket towards her heart.
She let go. She let it drop, let the words stream out and land on the earth. They escaped the between and rolled, and rolled, and rolled, clacking from the uneven sides and unrealized motives.
And then she smiled. Turned, and walked away.
