Jack's Fish Shack!

As most of you know we celebrated Jack's first birthday with a little party that turned out great and was such a fun memorable day celebrating our little comical sprite of a child.

We had a great snowy day for the party and it was a true winter birthday fete....

Here are the details-

The colors for the party were taken from his invitation- sample here:

I tied cute vintage paper letters together to say "Jacks Fish Shack" and served a station style menu of: New England Clam Chowder w/ Oyster Crackers and Fondue with Apples, Dried Fruits and Maple Caramelized Walnuts at the "appetizer" sideboard.

The main tables featured Mini Crabcakes Sandwiches, Mini Burgers, and Oven Fries with Old Bay and Malt Vinegar served in red and white checked paper "boats". I used cake stands to elevate his 2 cakes -one for the guests and one "smash" cake as the centerpiece. I served the great cider punch ( I talked about last week) with the Rum optional in the kitchen where we had a bar with soft drinks and beer and wine.

I used two plastic canisters that look like fish bowls to display the party favors-little blue whale squirters and mini sea creatures filled bubble bath. I also displayed his birth announcement and favorite newborn photograph in the foyer in front of a painting I made for him when I was pregnant.

We had 3 girls that commonly babysit for a lot of us there to greet, take coats, offer drinks and help with the kids so that we all could eat and enjoy- that worked great! I mention this because alot of the parents said they loved it and it was well worth it for them to have a chance to visit and eat together and let their kids play in our playroom at bit.

The best part of course was when the birthday boy started off delicately and then WENT TO TOWN ON HIS CAKE! The show went on for 20 minutes and he screamed , yelled and clapped at the ceiling with delight at his ( 2nd) taste of sugar- ( mommy cheated and gave him a preview when she ordered the cake)-

It was such a great day and here are the pics I have long awaited-
